Beer Parish Council News May 2013
Tuesday 7th May was B.P.C’s Annual Meeting in which we elect the officers and committees of the council for the year ahead. Martin Richards was re-elected as chairman and John Brewer was kept on as the vice chairman. For information on standing committees please see our website! www.beerparishcouncil.org.uk
Jim Knight was re-elected as our D.C.C representative, and often comes to our monthly meetings, and is always very supportive of B.P.C
Over the next few months, some of B.P.C’s projects will come to fruition i.e. the outdoor gym at the Jubilee Gardens will be up and running by the time you read this. Later in the year, the planned re-fit of the play park at Ash Hill will take place in time for the school holidays.
Plans are underway for the conduit over the brook opposite the Mariner’s Hall to be opened up and made to flow. The Parish Council would be very interested to hear from anybody who has any history or information on the conduit.
The phone booth will be re-located to outside the Mariner’s Hall and will act as a Wi-Fi hot spot and tourist information point.
Our emergency services representative Jean Davies told the council that the fire services were offering a free smoke alarm and home fire risk check. If you would like to take advantage of this ring them on free phone 0800 7311822. She also informed us that a Police Surgery will be held on the Jubilee on Monday 17th June between 12-1pm to provide an opportunity for local people to raise any concerns. The Police can take details from residents who require property marking and arrange a session for this at a later date.
