Latest events will appear here shortly. |
Beer is a small seaside village built around a natural cove, with a shingle beach nestling below the chalk cliffs. Many miles of the surrounding coast and countryside are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the village is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, stretching all the way from Exmouth in East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset.
This site aims to provide you with information about the work of the Parish Council and Beer generally. It will direct you to links to other websites for further information.
Closure of Old Beer Road due to landslip
Following the large scale slip of the cliff face along Old Beer Road, Devon County Council has now closed Old Beer Road to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. DCC is currently negotiating with Clinton Devon Estates to create a diversion for the South West Coast Path from Old Beer Road to Seaton Hole. Initially this will be a permissive path but ultimately it is hoped that this will become a permanent footpath.
HIGH WATER LEVELS IN BROOK - the Parish Council is aware that the water levels in the brook are exceptionally high. We are in constant dialogue with the Environment Agency, South West Water and the Local Authorities regarding this matter. Further updates will be provided on the website.
